Buy & Get offer - tutorial

FAQ and tutorial for how to set up a Buy & Get offer and what it means.

What is a Buy & Get offer?

A Buy & Get offer is a type of offer that lets your customers get a discount on a set of one or more products when they purchase one or more products that is set to trigger the offer.

With this offer you can, for example, make an offer that says that if you Buy 2 Coffee, you Get 1 Cinnamon bun With 50% discount. The product(s) you get discount on can also be the same as the ones you have to buy, so you could make an offer that says Buy 2 Bottles of water, mix and match flavours however you like, and Get 1 of them With 100% discount.

With the “of the same”-option, you can set up the offer with many products, but force the customer to purchase x amount of one of them to trigger the offer. For example, if you want the offer to apply to all flavours of ice cream, but the customer has to, for example, buy two of the same flavours, e. g. two strawberry or two chocolate, but not one of each, to get the discount.

Start

Go to the page Buy & Get under the Loyalty tab in Cloud. Click the Create button in the left corner. A popup window appears

  1. Write a name for your offer. This name is internal and will only be shown in Cloud and the app users will never see it.

  2. Select which campaign you like to connect it to.

  3. Click create.

Set up offer rule

This is where you set up the rule that your offer should abide to

The Buy-section lets you decide which products a customer has to purchase for the offer to trigger. The Amount field decides how many products (X) a customer has to purchase for the offer to trigger. The options “products” and “of the same product” lets you choose whether the customer has to buy X of one of the products in the BUY-area or if it can be any combination of those products that amounts to X.

The Get-section lets you decide what is discounted once the offer has triggered. The Amount field decides how many products (Y) are discounted. The options “of products” and “other products” lets you choose whether the customer gets a discount on products in the BUY-area, which are the same as the ones that triggered the offer, or if the products in the GET-area should be discounted.

The With-section lets you decide the amount of discount, in percent, the customer gets on all the products that are discounted given the criteria in the Get-section.

  1. Click on the grey box to start add products to your BUY-area. In this example, the burgers.

  2. The Multi picker opens and lets you select which products should trigger the offer.
Tip: To easily find your products, use the filter on the left to e.g. filter on your “App menu” sections.

You can see all the products you have picked for this selection if you click on the tab “Selected products” in the left top corner.

3. If you have chosen “other products” in the Get-section, select the products that should be discounted in the same way as in step 2, but for the GET-area.

4. Press Save when satisfied with your choices - Continue to next page Settings.

Settings

Appearance

This is where you create the visual offer that the customers can see in the mobile app.

  1. Write the text for the Heading and Body. Make sure that the texts make it clear what the combo offer deal is about and what products the customer can choose from.

  2. Image.
Import a picture to represent your combo offer. Click on the plus sign and select a picture from your computer.

  3. Push notification:
Fill in a message if you like to notify your customers/desired target group about the combo offer, max 100 characters. (Please keep in mind that too many push notifications can be annoying for the costumers.)

Scheduling

Select the dates for when you want the offer to start and end. (The offer won't be visible in the app until the start date.)
Click at the rectangle with dates. A calendar box will pop up. Click on the desired start and end dates.

Target group

The target group is your way to select the specific users you like to reach with your communication. You have a lot of choices and possibilities here to target specific customers and behaviours.

  1. Click on the target group you like to reach.

    1. Everyone - Everyone includes mpos and web preorder if you have these. If you select this, go directly to the next heading Limitations.

    2. Verified members - goes to all verified mobile app users (also possible to scan the mobile app in the restaurants to use the offer). If you select this go directly to next heading Limitations.

    3. Custom group, go to step 2 below.

    4. Business customers, go to step 3 below.

    5. Loyalty level, go to step 4 below.

  2. Custom group - Here you have the ability to target/direct your communication to a group of customers depending on when or what they have purchased earlier.

Depending on your choice you can see how many people the communication will reach out to.
You can choose one or several target options, pick and mix however you like. Options:

    1. Select one or several days.

    2. Select a period of the day.

    3. Select one product. (E.g. Target all customers who have purchased an “Original”).

      Proceed to step 5 below.

  3. Business customers - (if you have this feature) Choose the business customers you like to receive the communication, you can choose more than one. Proceed to step 5 below.

  4. Loyalty Level - (if you have this feature) Choose the loyalty levels that you like to receive the communication, you can choose more than one. Proceed to step 5 below.

  5. Target new customers?

When should the customer have registered in the app to receive the offer?
If you like to target customers who have registered to the app in a certain time e.g. new customers under a specific period, use this setting to specify what date. You can enter either a “from”-date, “to”-date or both. If not, choose Anytime.

Number of days the communication will be visible after registration in app
This setting is useful if you like to communicate and premiere new customers.
For example: Set up an offer for a long time period (e.g. 6 months) to target all new customers under that period. In the setting “Days” enter “14”. In this way, the customers will have access to the offer the first 14 days after they have been verified as members. If not, leave blank.

Limitations

This section is optional and can be skipped. The preselected settings as this image shows are set as default.

Available through dining type
Do you want the offer to apply to both takeaway and eat-in orders? Or should it only work e.g. for customers who order in the app or scans the offer (from the app) at the register but eat in the restaurant?

Available on days
What days should the offer be valid? You can choose one, some or all days.

When does the customer have to pick up their order?
This setting determines what time of the day the offer should be valid. E.g. Lunchtime 11-14.
The customer can make the order at any time (preorder) but not collect the order until the selected pick up time is reached. The customer also needs to set the corresponding pickup time in the app when the order is made to be able to get access to the offer. In this example has the order to be picked up between 11-14 o'clock.

Restrict offer to specific stores
Pick one or more restaurants from the drop-down list if you like an offer only to be valid on those restaurants. All customers with the app can see the offer in the app, but it can only be redeemed at the selected restaurants.

Available on platform
This applies only if you have web preorder, otherwise skip this.
Here you can decide if the offer also should be open to unverified web preorder customers.

Amount of offers that can be redeemed
Have you made a really good offer and want to limit how many offers can be redeemed?
Just click Specified number and enter your desired number in the input field.

Allow offer to be used in the same order more than one time?
If NO is chosen: You will limit the usage of the combo offer to only one at each purchase. If the customer likes to order two of the products in the Combo offer they will have to pay the standard price on the second product.

How many times can a customer redeem the combo offer?
Here you can limit how many times a certain user can use an offer, select once or Specified number and enter that amount of redeems you like your customer to have. E.g. 3 = 3 uses.

For example: If you combine the two settings about limited uses above, you can e.g. set 100 uses, max 1 per user. All app users you have targeted will see this offer but it is the “first come” (först till kvarn) rule that will apply. When a user has used his/hers 1 redeem, the offer will disappear from his/her app but will still be visible for those who have not redeemed the offer. After all 100 uses have been redeemed the offer will disappear from all user's apps.

Can this be combined with other offers?
This setting determines if the offer can be used together with another offer.
